“Demand More Knowledge.”
Hyman M. Surchin PRESIDENT

“When I founded Surchin in 1968, we purchased used equipment, re-conditioned it and re-sold it. Eventually we were able to offer a full range of pre-owned equipment for mass mailings. That was an industry first!

Customers came to rely on our equipment and it was a good start—but we wanted to do more. We decided to move from reconditioning to re-manufacturing, so we expanded our operations to work with a wide variety of production mail equipment and added a machine shop with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.

About that time, it also occurred to me that if we could lease pre-owned equipment to folks just starting out in the business we could make it affordable for them to open shop. Customers liked the idea and because they trusted Surchin they turned to us to buy new equipment, rather than from other major manufacturers.

Over the years we’ve kept on expanding our thinking and extending our technology. And, after almost forty years in business I know one thing for certain: to be successful in the mail business, you have to stay ahead of the curve—both as a supplier and as a business owner.

We are committed to giving our customers a competitive advantage by providing everything from state-of-the-art inserting machines to the most technologically advanced, intelligent systems available.

I believe that we at Surchin know more about the mail business than any other company around. So, you can demand more from us because we simply know more about how the business works. (BACK TO TOP)

“Demand More Thinking.”
Seth Surchin VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCT MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Personalized service and tailored solutions to your production requirements are the main reasons Surchin Advanced Mailing Technologies (SAMT) was created.

I do not subscribe to the “one size fits all” philosophy. I believe that every business in the print and mail community is different and requires a thoughtful, individual, and workable approach to problem solving. Our customers want the flexibility to expand their production capabilities, create new revenue streams and attract new customers – oftentimes with the same equipment line!

And that’s what we strive to deliver.

Since I joined SAMT in 1999, my goal has been to develop the best-engineered, most-productive and forward-thinking camera-based vision and intelligent inserting systems on the market today—at highly competitive price points.

I believe we are achieving that goal because we demand more of ourselves. We’re not satisfied until we’ve explored every possibility and considered every angle on how to improve the entire document finishing process in variable print.

We keep expanding our technological thinking and inventing new solutions. We have a lot of industry firsts under our belt and they are the direct result of paying massive attention to our customers, their wish-lists” and the portfolio of technologies available to us.

So, whether it’s a state-of-the-art intelligent inserting system, a “slightly ahead of our time” vision system or related equipment combinations, we’ve got the technological experience, engineering expertise, and desire to provide the smart answers our accounts need to achieve their business objectives.

Prior to joining our family’s company, years spent in investment banking at Kidder, Peabody and strategy consulting at OC&C Strategy Consultants (London, England) have helped provide me a perspective on customer requirements and how leading vendors address them across markets and industries. This work experience helped me round out a business–driven education that includes a BBA from the University of Michigan (1987) and an MBA from Columbia Business School (1993).

I’ve been serving on the Technology Committee of the Mailing and Fulfillment Service Association (MFSA) since 2000. It’s been time well spent. High-level exposure to industry issues confirms an important insight regarding our business and how we add value:

We like to say that you can demand more thinking from Surchin. You really can. (BACK TO TOP)

“Demand More Expertise.”
Bruce Goins Vice-President, Sales

“I’ve been providing intelligent solutions to the mailing community for close to 30 years now. I had been competing with Surchin for several years and had grown to respect and admire them throughout the years for their integrity as well as ingenuity. So when an opportunity to join Surchin Advanced Mailing Technologies presented itself, I jumped at it.

Surchin knows more about the document processing and production mail business than anyone in the business. You can demand more from them, because they constantly demand more from themselves. They have a passion for developing technologically inspired engineering solutions to solve customer problems.

With Surchin, I directly interact with key customers and provide strategic direction to our sales team. My focus is to help our customers increase their revenues, protect and increase their earnings and make them more competitive in their respective markets. Because of Surchin’s expertise, I believe they are uniquely positioned to identify the challenges our customers face and provide the products and services they need to achieve their goals.

Prior to joining Surchin, I held a variety of sales positions with Bowe Bell & Howell, including Executive Sales Director. In that capacity I provided strategic direction to the geographical sales managers as well as the major account executive team. I was also Eastern Regional Sales Manager and Regional Sorting Systems Manager.

I’ve been on a number of industry boards and have received numerous professional awards. In fact, one of my greatest achievements was exceeding quota assignments for more than 20 years with Bell & Howell and that included several years in management.

I served with the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam and now live just outside Raleigh, North Carolina.” (BACK TO TOP)
